The ministerial nominee from Kaduna State Abbas Balarabe Lawal on Wednesday collapsed on the floor of the Senate during screening after presenting his resume.

It was gathered that the incident occurred a few minutes before 2 p.m.

Lawal collapsed after introducing himself and one of the Senators from Kaduna was making his address.

Immediately, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio who requested for water and sugar to be administered to the nominee, directed the shutting down of cameras as the session was televised live, while efforts were on to resuscitate the nominee.

Abbas Lawal Balarabe who hails from Kachia Local Government, Kaduna State was born on February 5, 1958.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1978-1981) and M.Sc in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1984-1986).

Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State is being screened alongside Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
