Atiku Abubakar has applied to file fresh evidence in his ongoing legal tussle with President Bola Tinubu that has been escalated to the Supreme Court.

Atiku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last general election, has remained steadfast in challenging Tinubu’s election despite the verdict of the presidential election petition tribunal on September 6.

He exported the matter to the United States, requesting that Tinubu’s alma mater the Chicago State University release his records in its database, alleging discrepancy and forgery.

Atiku’s request was granted by a U.S. district court in Chicago and the CSU subsequently released Tinubu’s records and the CSU registrar Caleb Westberg gave a deposition in court.

The former vice president is now seeking to tender these records and the deposition at the Supreme Court in hopes that the court would invalidate Tinubu’s election and his affirmation by the tribunal.

“The deposition sought to be adduced is, along with its accompanying documents, such as would have an important effect in the resolution of this appeal,” a part of Atiku’s application read.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the motion.
