NewsNigeriaPoliticsSenator Ifeanyi Ubah Confirms Move to APC

The senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has joined the All Progressives Congress – APC. This very move is considered in many quarters as a very strategic, though unexpected one, for some reasons, might change a lot of political permutations in Anambra and the Southeast in the coming weeks ahead.

Only yesterday, the senator was seen in a photograph with some of his Anambra brothers in Abuja the nation’s capital, in what looks like some sort of consultation. This move, it would now appear, might be unconnected to the visit and the move perhaps enjoy their approval.

Confirming this news in a brief conversation with Ebuka Onyekwelu of the West African Pilot News, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah said that his move followed consultations with his brothers and every other concerned stakeholder. He also reiterated the need to play in mainstream Nigerian politics, given the level of political maturity within Nigeria’s polity.

For now, it is not readily clear how the majority of the populace in Anambra or Southeast will receive this. However, what is clear is that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has been a man of the people, which has earned him victory in the Senate twice, despite stiff opposition. The implication is that this move might be perceived differently by those who feel emotionally detached from the APC, across the Southeast. Either way, what is clear for now, is that the move has caused some disquietness in the politics of the next governorship election in Anambra state and even beyond.
