NewsNigeriaValentine Ozigbo challenges Anambra Diaspora on change for brighter future

“Ozigbo’s speech was marvellous, fantastic, and well-received by everyone at the hall,” Prof. Osita E. Aka, the immediate past Caretaker Chair of Anambra State Association, USA [ASA-USA] remarked after the keynote address delivered by politician and business mogul Chief Valentine Ozigbo at the national convention of ASA-USA in Atlanta on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Prof. Aka’s remark is one of the many positive feedbacks that greeted Ozigbo’s speech. Onyi Erinne, ASA-USA Board Chairperson, described it as “very educating and inspiring.”

Speaking on the topic “Unity, Progress, and Transparency: Making a Difference Through Medical and Education Mission”, Chief Ozigbo, the PDP candidate in the Anambra 2021 gubernatorial election, made a compelling case for visionary leadership in Anambra.

“To change the trajectory of our economy and the future of our state, we need more than just good intentions; we need visionary political leadership,” the business mogul said.

“When it comes to selecting leaders, it’s not just about promises made, but about character displayed, processes adopted, and the platforms represented.”

He also charged the Anambra diaspora in the US to be united and be committed to building the southeastern State.

In his words, “The Anambra Diaspora doesn’t just represent our state’s voice abroad; it epitomises the embodiment of our state’s potential.”

“It’s not enough to hope for a better Anambra; we must work, innovate, and collaborate to create it,” he added, “We stand at a juncture of incredible potential and opportunity. Let’s aspire for more, achieve more, and above all, let’s do it together.”

Apart from Ozigbo, the convention featured other notable speakers, such as Dr Daniel William and Ichie Damian Afam Okeke, the Vice President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

William spoke on the topic “Black on Black Crimes” while Ichie Okeke delivered a speech on the “State of Affairs – Ohaneze Ndigbo World Wide”

The high point of the event was the peaceful transition of power from Prof. Aka, who led the caretaker committee, to Onyi Erinne, the newly elected ASA-USA Board Chairperson.

The transition marked a significant milestone for the organisation, especially given the backdrop of years of power struggles within the organisation.
