Governor Ahamdu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has lauded the efforts of security agencies in the Northeast for ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Fintiri made the commendation Monday while declaring the 13th Northeast quarterly conference of Directors of State Security Services held at the State Command of DSS Yola, the Adamawa state capital.
The Governor said the zone was plagued by a multitude of security problems that threaten the peace, stability, and development of the states and the nation at large.
“The retreat is to deliberate on the general security situation in the zone and adopt practical steps and measures to address the contemporary security challenges bedeviling the region.
“The region has been grappling headlong with a myriad of security challenges which have regrettably left our communities vulnerable and our people living in fear and trauma of the previously untold disturbances.”

“Security challenges include Boko Haram insurgency, farmer-herder clashes, and kidnappings, cross border crimes, inter and intra communal clashes as well as attacks on various security services and formations.”
“While reviewing the five pillars of DSS to the nation, our terms of commitment as state governments remain forthrightly to facilitate, support and earnestly identify critical problem areas for solutions finding,” he said.
Fintiri assured the resolve of northeast governors to cooperate with the DSS and other security agencies at all levels to provide security and an enabling environment for peace, law, and order.
In his welcome remarks, the Director of DSS in Adamawa, Alhaji Hassan Adeleke said participants at the conference would brainstorm on the contemporary general security situation bedeviling the northeast zone.
Adeleke explained that at the end of the conference, the resolution will be made to provide further guidance and action to service by the commands in the zone and other critical stakeholders.
The Bauchi State Director of DSS Alh Hussaini Abdullahi who chaired the occasion said the retreat will adopt measures to stem the tide of insecurity in the zone
Also in their remarks, Brigade Commander 23 Brigade Yola, MJ Gambo, and Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Tola Afolabi assured collaborative synergy with sister agencies to secure the country.
