The Senate has approved the appointment of Ola Olukoyede and Mohammed Hamajoda as the chairman and secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, respectively.
Olukayode and Hammajoda were screened on Wednesday alongside Halima Shehu who was appointed to head the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA. Shehu was confirmed too.
Pilot News reported that President Bola Tinubu appointed Olukoyede and Hammajoda as EFCC chairperson and secretary respectively on October 12.
Olukoyede, who served as secretary of the anti-graft agency between 2018 and 2020, promised to fight corruption and crime in Nigeria no matter whose ox is gored.
“If you are in the ruling party, and you dip your hands into what you are not supposed to, you will be called to question,” he said.
“If you are in the opposition and you swallow sandpaper that did not digest, you will also be called to question.”
