NewsNigeriaPolitics“Under my Watch, APGA is Offering itself to Nigerians”, Ezeokenwa Declares

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has said that his party keyed into the demand by young people to be mainstreamed in politics, and elected a youth as the National Chairman of APGA. Speaking to a cross-section of Anambra journalists who paid a courtesy call on the National Chairman, as part of the range of activities to mark the Anambra State NUJ Press Week, Barr. Ezeokenwa said that journalism is one of the noblest professions in the world. While congratulating Anambra State journalists, he also regretted the undue influence of social media on journalism. “I appreciate NUJ Anambra State…APGA has a good relationship with the media. But it seems that social media is now driving journalism, meanwhile, it is journalism that should drive social media,” Barr. Sly said.

Harping on the credibility of APGA, he said that from the beginning, “Since the inception of APGA government in Anambra State, the state has always maintained top positions in various indices of human development. APGA is a people-driven political party,” the chairman said.  Speaking on the party’s readiness for national governance, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa declared that his leadership of APGA is providing an alternative platform for Nigerians. “Under my watch, APGA is offering itself to Nigerians”, he said.

The interactive session with the Anambra media community which was held at the regional office complex of APGA on Friday, had the National Chairman of APGA bare his mind on several national issues, as well as spoke extensively on the all-important role of the media in driving social change. Commenting on the Supreme Court judgment delivered a few days ago, Barr. Sly said that the decision of the Apex Court has put all arguments to rest. Citing Justice Oputa, Ezeokenwa said that he agrees with Justice Oputa’s popular dictum that the “Supreme Court is infallible because it is final.” While congratulating President Bola Tinubu, he therefore called on the two leading opposition candidates to join hands towards nation-building.

On the state of the nation, Barr. Sly expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s manifesto is promising if only half of what is contained in it is implemented. “I believe that if the president implements up to 50% of his manifesto, he can turn this country around”, Sly said. While commending the improved security situation in the country since the current administration, Ezeokenwa said that there is still more. “At least, there have been improvements in the security situation of the country, but there is still work to do”.

The APGA National Chairman also vowed that his commitment to a free, fair, and credible party primary election in APGA is certain, as it is in line with his “drive agenda”.
