Following the recent abduction of an Architect and a Journalist in the Wuro-chekke community of Yola South local government area of Adamawa state, scavengers have been banned from operating in the community.
It was gathered that heavy sums of money were paid as ransoms before the victims were released after spending five days in the kidnappers’ den.
The Village Head of the community, Alhaji Sa’ad Mohammed gave the order while addressing the community, and explained that the majority of those in the businesses who move in all corners of the community are informants of kidnappers who disguise themselves under the business.
Mohammed added that nobody should be allowed to enter the community from 11: PM without genuine reasons, stressing that the action is part of measures to forestall future occurrences of kidnapping.

The Village Head directed the Community vigilante group to enforce the order with immediate effect.
He warned informants of criminals to refrain from their acts or relocate from the community and noted that the community has been in existence for decades without recording such criminal acts.
Alhaji Mohammed stated that it is an obligation of all to be security conscious and ensure the safety of the community by supporting Vigilantes, Police, and other security agencies with vital information that will drive away criminals from the community.
In their separate remarks, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Yola South, Mohammed Sani, and Divisional Crime Officer Wuro-check, Gabriel Markus solicited support and cooperation from members of the public to enable them to perform optimally in checking the activities of criminals.
They explained that the timely release of information on criminals will enable the police and other security agencies to act without delay.
