After 73 days in captivity, the four remaining abducted female students of the Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State have been rescued.
Recall that five students of the University were abducted on October 3, when gunmen invaded their rented apartment in the Katsina metropolis at midnight.
One of the students was rescued in November and has since been reunited with her family.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Armaya’u Bichi disclosed this to Journalists in Dutsinma shortly after the rescue operation by a combined team of security agencies.
The Vice-Chancellor, who didn’t elaborate on the rescue operation, maintained that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the abducted students.
“The students were on their way to Abuja where they would be taken to the Office of the National Security Adviser for preliminary assessment and medical examinations before after which they would be reunited with their families,” Bichi said.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked security agencies and the Office of the National Security Adviser for ensuring the safe release of all five abducted female students.
