NewsNigeriaAdamawa State Records Two Suicide Cases Within A Week

In less than a week, Adamawa State has recorded two cases of suicide in Girei and Yola North local government areas.
The first incident was on on 12/12/2023 of a 22 years old Florence Vandi, a health worker who hailed from Michika local government area and work with Girei local government area who committed suicide following the death of her boyfriend.
The second incident was a middle age man identified as Yakubu Mamza who hailed from Madagali local government area and father of three female children has committed suicide on 14/12/2023 at 80 Housing units Jimeta near Muna Hotel in Yola North local government area.
Florence Vandi, a health worker who played the role Juliet by consuming a liquid insecticide called “Otapiyapiya” to joined her Romeo, Mr Nuhu Boniface who died after a brief illness while receiving treatment in a Hospital.
For Yakubu Mamza, it was gathered that depression might be the cause of killing himself as his wife who they separated about two years ago left with the children and is living lonely in an uncompleted building.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command while reacting to the incidences advice the public that suicide is not solution to overcome challenges of life.
 “Adamawa State Police Command wishes to advice members of the public that no matter what happens to you in life, suicide is not an option. Life still gives you another opportunity,” he said.
