People dealing in merchandise at the roadblock area of Jalingo, the Taraba State capital are now counting losses following an inferno in the early hours of Saturday that consumed goods worth millions of naira.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained when filling in the report, but owners of the affected shops blamed welders and black marketers for using cooking gas within the area.
Some good Samaritans who assisted in quenching the fire chased men of the fire service for allegedly arriving late when the fire had already consumed the properties.
Following this development, Policemen were mobilized to the scene to drive away the angry youths and enable the men of the fire service to bring them down.
