NewsNigeriaPoliticsPolitical Appointees Resign their Appointments In Ondo State

A few hours after the swearing-in of Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the new Governor of Ondo State following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, some political appointees to the former Governor resigned their appointments.

It was learned that the decisions of Akeredolu’s aides to quit offices might not be unconnected with the political brouhaha between the former and the new governor.

The first to relinquish his appointment is the Chief Press Secretary to late governor Akeredolu, Mr Richard Olatunde, who said his resignation was based on personal reasons.

Also, Dare Aragbaiye, who before now served as Special Adviser to the former Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties had submitted his resignation letter with reference GHP/FS/858/41 dated December 27, 2023, to the Secretary to the State Government in Governor’s office at Alagbaka in Akure.

The letter reads in part: “Resignation of Appointment as Special Adviser, Union Matters and Special Duties” and reads in part” I write to refer to the subject above and to resign my appointment as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties with effect from today, Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

“My decision to resign is based on the unfortunate death of my Principal, a fearless and honest leader, Governor Arakunrin, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, whom I am loyal to even in death.

“I sincerely thank His Excellency for the opportunity granted me to serve in his administration as a member of the State Executive Council, first as Head of Service and now as Special Adviser.”
