To enhance the teaching profession, the Kebbi State Government in collaboration with POBITECH Consultancy Service has commenced the training of 2,400 Primary Schools Teachers in the state.

While declaring the training open at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, said his administration has declared a revolution in the state educational sector and urged all stakeholders in the education sector to join hands with his administration to move the sector forward.

“Teachers’ welfare would be accorded priority by the administration as well as support to the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme by modifying and strengthening its operations to conform to the needs of the society,” Governor Idris said.

He reiterated the readiness of his administration to key into avenues that would promote and project the teaching profession in the state and encouraged the participants to be committed to the training.

The Rector, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi Dr. Usman Sani-Tunga, described teacher training and retraining as the best way to drive the sector to prosperity, assured that the institution would do its best to give the trainees sound training using qualified and professional trainers.

The Chairman, of Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Suleiman Khalid, said the training will last for two weeks with English language, Mathematics, and Educational skills as subjects for training, stressing that the training had been divided into six units, with 400 participants in each unit.
