In a daring assault, a gang of bandits numbering over 100 targeted a military camp in Nahuta village, Batsari LGA of Katsina State, Nigeria on Sunday night.
The sounds of gunshots that reverberated through the village as soldiers and the rebels battled provoked fear and anxiety in locals.
One by one, they began to pack up and leave to seek shelter in neighbouring villages while some hid in bushes for as long as the attack lasted.
Although the military were able to hold off the terrorists, the outlaws set ablaze two military vehicles during the attack.

“It was a terrible experience for us. The terrorists outnumbered us because they split into three groups,” an anonymous military source told Premium Times.
Another source who spoke to THIS DAY corroborated the report. “The soldiers were overpowered by the terrorists who came in large numbers on motorbikes,” he said.
“They (terrorists) burnt down two operational vehicles belonging to the military and some properties of the soldiers. They also took away arms and other properties belonging to the military.”
Exploiting the chaos, the bandits entered the deserted village where they burgled shops, broke into houses, and made away with properties and domestic animals.
