A cloud of mystery hangs over the sudden death of a a high-ranking police officer in Lagos State, Deputy Commissioner of Police Gbolahan Olugbemi, who was found dead in his Ogbomoso residence on Monday, in what appears to be a suicide.
DCP Olugbemi was attached to the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) in Lagos.
According to multiple reports, the DCP “was found hanging in his home” on Monday.
The late DCP was a native of Ogbomoso and had recently returned from Lagos for the Easter celebration. He was reportedly found alone in his residence.
Before his death, Olugbemi had served as Divisional Police Officer in Ilupeju Area Commander in Ajah, the personal assistant to two former Commissioners of Police in Lagos State, and the aide-de-camp to late Adebayo Alao-Akala, former governor of Oyo.
Police authorities have remained mum on the matter since the news of DCP Olugbemi’s demise hit the media on Tuesday morning.
