A mosque in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State collapsed on Sunday, 26th May 2024, during afternoon prayers, resulting in casualties.
Initial reports suggested many persons died, but later updates from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, confirmed that there was only one fatality.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing to locate and assist other survivors trapped under the rubble.

LASEMA officials stated that a nearby excavator accidentally struck the one-story mosque, causing the collapse.
