A popular Kano TikToker, identified as G-Fresh, has been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for allegedly making “inappropriate remarks” about the Quran.
Details about the specific content of the TikTok video remain unclear. However, Hisbah spokesman, Aliyu Usman, stated that G-Fresh is accused of reciting the first chapter of the Quran, Surah Fatiha, in an “improper manner” during the last Eid al-Fitr celebrations in April.
“He has been hiding for long and we have been extending invitations to him,” Usman said. “I personally have called him on the phone several times, telling him to come for counselling based on the instructions of the Commandant General but he refused. We have no option but to go after him and arrest him.”
G-Fresh was picked up from his residence located in the Badawa area on Sunday afternoon.
Usman added that G-Fresh is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday (today).
