Nigerian Professor of medical hydrology and climatology, Prof. K’tso Nghargbu, chaired the session on Climate Change and Economy, at the 47th International Society of Medical Hydrology World Congress that was held in Romania. Prof. K’tso who emphasized economic diversification as a way out of Nigeria’s economic difficulties, made a case for the exploitation of Nigeria’s balneological resources. Pointing to several examples from around the globe, K’tso argued, strongly, that Nigeria’s balneological resources (mineral waters) are capable of substantially improving the economic fortunes of the country.

Prof. K’tso, who is the head of International Linkages at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, also chaired conversations at the University of Economics in Katowice Poland, where he delivered lectures on energy policy, climate adaptation, and socio-economic limitations to Nigeria’s development.

In the days ahead, Prof. K’tso will continue with further engagements in Poland and Romania, as part of efforts to strengthen international collaboration in research and learning, with universities across the two European countries and Nigerian universities. Part of this effort Prof. K’tso revealed in an exclusive interview, is to also advocate for European Studies in Africa.

Earlier, Prof. K’tso dedicated his lecture at the ISMH World Congress to Rev Fr Dr. Offodile, who is a leading voice in Nigeria for the country’s exploitation of its balneological resources.
