On Monday, the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, announced the appointment of Anambra-born Sir. Paul Chukwuma, as Chairman of the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of Benue State University.  Chukwuma, a big player in the education sector within Nigeria and beyond, is expected to come on board with his diverse experience in the educational sector.

Similarly, Governor Alia appointed Chairpersons of Governing Councils of other higher institutions in Benue State as follows; Dr. Damian Anyam, Chairman of Benue State Polytechnic, Ogbokolo. Prof. George-Genyi was appointed the Chairman of the College of Education, Oju. For the College of Education, Katsina-ala, Prof. Uketor Gabrial Moti, was appointed the Chairman of the Governing Council. Prof. Okpe O. Okpe was appointed the Chairman of the Governing Council for the Akawe Torkula Polytechnic in Markudi. Dr. Bern Vangerwua was appointed the Chairman of the Governing Council for the College of Health Technology in Agasha. As for the Akperan Orshi Polytechnic in Yandev, Dr. Victoria Pila was appointed as Chairperson of the institution’s Governing Council.

In a letter signed by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Sir. Tersoo Kula, the governor conveyed his congratulations and expressed confidence in the ability of appointees to elevate the institutions through their wealth of experience. He also noted that the appointments are with immediate effect, as he conveyed Governor Alia’s admonition to the appointees to put in their best.
