NewsNigeriaPoliticsDon’t Promote Anarchy By Sponsoring Pro-Govt Protesters, MBF Tells FG

The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has told the Federal Government not to promote anarchy by sponsoring pro-government protesters.

The National Publicity Secretary of MBF, Dr. Isuwa Dogo stated this on Thursday, stressing that the President should take proactive measures by giving a nationwide broadcast.

Dogo said, “The President should give two nationwide broadcasts and tell Nigerians what the government is planning to do and appeal against the protest, and if the protesters insist that they must go on with the peaceful protest, security agencies should protect them and ensure that criminal elements don’t infiltrate the protest to cause havoc and bring anarchy and disorder.

“If the government allows the police and army to go ahead with some of the things that they’re saying, then they’re inviting more serious disorder in the country.

According to Dogo, the government shouldn’t allow any group to come out and say that they want to protest against protesters for 15 days.

He said, “I read that they’re going to protest from 1st to the 15th of August. They’re simply saying that they’re declaring war against the protesters. If something goes wrong it’s because of the inaction or wrong action of the government.

“I strongly believe that if the government allows the pro-government protesters to protest against the protesters they’re only promoting anarchy and mayhem and the outcome will be such that the police won’t be able to control.

On why some groups emerged in solidarity with the government, he said, “These groups are sponsored by the government. They’ve never existed. It’s a political ploy by the government to ensure that the protest doesn’t take place. Those groups don’t exist and even what they say don’t have meaning.

“The protesters have said that the protest is non-violent. It’s the responsibility of the security forces to protect them and also ensure that no infiltration of criminal elements happens. We’ve seen groups saying they are pro-government protesters and those are the people that will become elements that will cause violence and disorder because what is happening is that the government is organising anti-protest groups because they’re the ones that will initiate anarchy.

“Where have they been all these while, if some of them say they’re southern and middle belt group, they don’t represent us and they don’t exist? Have the leaders of the southern and middle belt forum said anything? So, those groups don’t represent us. We disown them. They’re fake, organised by the government to say things that don’t exist.

“If the government allows any group to come out and protest against the protesters then it’s the government that is promoting anarchy and disorder,” Dogo added.
