Controversial social media personality, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre after serving four months of a six-month sentence.
The crossdresser was convicted on 12 April 2024, by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos, for abusing the Nigerian naira.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had charged Bobrisky with four counts of money laundering and abuse of the naira.
However, the court dropped the money laundering charges after the crossdresser pleaded guilty to the naira abuse allegations. The sentence was six months in prison without the option of a fine.
Bobrisky reportedly regained his freedom on Monday morning, and he threw a boat party to celebrate with his friends.
