Following the return of normalcy in Kano state, Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf has announced the complete removal of the curfew imposed on the state.

A 24-hour curfew was imposed on the state by the government as a result of violence, looting, and destruction of properties during the recent #EndBadGovernance protest in the state.

Before the complete removal of the curfew, two days later 24 hours, the curfew was relaxed from 8 am to 2 pm and then from 6 am to 6 pm.

The lifting of the curfew was contained in a media broadcast on Monday evening by Baba Dantiye, the State Commissioner for Information, explaining that the decision was taken to enable residents to go about their businesses without restrictions because peace and normalcy have returned.

“The government, having reviewed the situation and satisfied that the security issue has drastically improved, has lifted the curfew completely. People can now go about their businesses peacefully by law and order.

“The governor extends his appreciation to the security agencies for their effort in bringing peace back to our state and also thanks the ulama for their prayers and indeed all the people of Kano State for their support and understanding during this trying period of the curfew.

“The governor has further solicited continuous prayers for our country, for our state for continued peace and prosperity,” he said.
