The Peoples Democratic Party has concluded the election of Councilor and Chairmanship candidates for the 260 electoral wards and 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State; this exercise is ahead of the local council election slated for October 2024.
Only two former council chairmen, Okechukwu Edeh of Nkanu East LGA and Obiora Obeagu of Isi-Uzo LGA were returned as the party’s candidates for the forthcoming council elections.
Other winners include Beloved Dan Anike (Enugu East LGA), Jude Asogwa (Nsukka LGA), Caleb Ani (Enugu South LGA), Ibenaku Onoh (Enugu North LGA), John Ogbodo (Nkanu West LGA), Ugochukwu Nwanjoku (Aninri LGA), Uche Okolo (Awgu LGA), Vita Ndu (Ezeagu LGA), and Gregory Anyaegbudike (Oji River LGA).
Also, Hyginus Agu (Udi LGA), Michael Ogala (Igboeze North LGA), Ferdinand Ukwueze (Igboeze South LGA), Aka Eze Aka (Udenu LGA), Eric Odo (Igbo Etiti LGA), and Chijioke Ezugwu (Uzo Uwani LGA) won the party’s primary election emerging as the party’s flag bearer.
Meanwhile, the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election.
Describing it as peaceful, free, fair, and credible process, Mbah said, “This is what our party is known for. Again, the good people of Enugu State would agree with us that our party members made the best decisions, given the quality of candidates that will be flying the party flag because they have what it takes to drive our disruptive and innovative development programmes at the grassroots.”
