…Residents Blame Construction Company
Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as flood submerged houses, factory and farmland at Ugwu Mkpume Layout Achalla Agu, Nkpor in Idemili North Council Area Anambra State
The West Africa Pilot News gathered that the flood covered the whole environment comprising of factories and farmland.
Speaking in an interview, the Vice President, Ugwu Mkpume Achalla Agu Landlords’ Association, Mr Ifeanyi Oghota described the incident as unfortunate and lamented that the good intentions of the state government that was meant to bring them joy and happiness to them has turned to sorrow due to wrong channelling of flood by the construction Company that handled the Road project at Inland doors Nkpor- Umuoji Road.
Oghota regretted the damage the construction company caused them and appealled to the state government to come to their aid.
Adding their voices, Dr Alex Okonkwo, Mr Peter Nwakudo and Mrs. Rose Enemchukwu who are residents, said they have not witnessed this type of flood in the area since 25 years they packed into the area and regretted the loss of a mother and emergency condition of her three children who were rushed to Royal hospital Nkpor for revival.
They appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to come to their aid as flood from Ogidi, Umunachi, Eke Nkpor and Obosi are now channelled to the layout that has no Sakamori that can accommodate such heavy flood.
