Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dissolved the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen, effective from Friday, September 6, 2024, barely a month to the upcoming local government elections in the State.
Recall that the Transition Implementation Committee chairmen were constituted on June 9, 2023.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Mr Gyang Bere in Jos, the State capital, Friday night, the governor has directed Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) to take charge of the councils until local government polls are held .
“Following the dissolution of the Transition Implementation Committee chairmen, Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) are to assume responsibility for the administration of the local government areas until elections are held on October 9, 2024 to fill the positions,” the statement reads.
Mutfwang also encouraged the former chairmen to collaborate with their constituents to ensure the People’s Democratic Party, PDP success in the forthcoming local government elections.
The governor applauded the Transition Committee Chairmen for their exemplary leadership and developmental projects executed that have directly impacted their communities expressed pride in their accomplishments and urged them to continue offering valuable counsel to promote peace and unity within the, and the State.
He thanked the people of the State for their unwavering support.
“The outcome of the PDP primaries for the chairmanship and councillorship elections reflects the deep connection the people have with the party”.
“We want to reaffirm our commitment to running an inclusive, transparent, and accountable government that serves the interests of all Plateau citizens”, the governor said.
