Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has commenced distribution of non-sensitive materials to all the 21 council areas ahead of the local government election holding in State.
The distribution exercise which is currently ongoing amid heavy security presence, including personnel saw over 21 vehicles and their Electoral Officers taking delivery of the materials geared towards early commencement of election state wide.
Briefing journalists on the development at the office of the commission in Awka, the Chairman of the Commission, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe said that the commission is currently evacuating non-sensitive materials from their headquarters in Awka to the various local government areas headed by the Electoral Officers.
According to her, after the materials are taken to the local government areas, they will be further distributed to the polling units on time for the election to commence in earnest on Saturday.
She disclosed that the election will hold in all polling units in across the State in a peaceful atmosphere prevalent for the conduct of a smooth, free, fair and credible election.
