23 persons have been arrested on Saturday for violating monthly sanitation order in Yola North and South local government areas of Adamawa State.
The violators were arrested at various locations while running their business during the period of the sanitation exercise.
The monthly sanitation was reintroduce by Fintiri-led administration as part of effort to ensure cleanliness of environment.
Speaking on this month sanitation exercise, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, State Commissioner for Education and Human capital Development, said government has launched war against Cholera with fumigation and the distribution of disinfectants to the leadership of Yola North local government Council.
According to him, the disease has so already claimed many lives in the State. and others hospitalised, stressing that dirty environment contributes to cholera disease.
Pella, charged the leadership of Yola North local government Council to not only mobilise, sensitize communities on the importance of clean environment, but ensure all communities are fumigated.
He reiterated the efforts of Government of ensuring the health and wellbeing of the citizenry, and advised people to always keep their environment clean for a healthy living.
Speaking on the level of. compliance, the commissioner expressed delight with the level of participation by residents of the state capital and urged the to maintain the tempo.
