The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, for marketers.
The price has been slashed from N990 per litre to N970 per litre.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed that the price reduction is to show appreciation to Nigerians and the government for their support throughout the year.
“As the year comes to an end, this is our way of appreciating the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in making the refinery a dream come true. In addition, this is to thank the government for their support as this will complement the measures put in place to encourage domestic enterprise for our collective well-being,” the statement read.
Chiejina further assured Nigerians of the refinery’s commitment to maintaining the quality of its petroleum products.
He noted that the products are environmentally friendly and sustainable, adding that the refinery is ramping up production to meet and exceed domestic fuel consumption needs.
“We are determined to keep ramping up production to meet and surpass our domestic fuel consumption; thus, dispelling any fear of a shortfall in supply,” Chiejina said.
This marks the first reduction in petrol price since the commencement of the deregulation of the petroleum sector.
