Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the draft content for the proposed National Conference on Skills Acquisition and Youth Empowerment, developed by the party’s Think Tank, The Progressive Institute (TPI) in Abuja.
It will be recalled that Ganduje was at TPI on Thursday where he discussed the proposed conference with the institute’s management.
A press statement on Sunday signed by Wale Abideen, Head of Media and Strategic Communication, TPI, disclosed that the National Chairman believes unemployment is a bane to peace and development, and had earlier in September unveiled and charged the Institute on the need for a conference to address youth unemployment which he describes as a catalyst to violence in Nigeria.
The statement added, “Subsequently, TPI gathered experts to research and develop a world standard approach towards engaging Nigerian youths for productivity.
“The institute has designed a proposed three day conference, scheduled for December, 2024. Further details about the conference are expected to be made public in a couple of days.
“TPI Director General, DG, Lanre Adebayo hints at a robust deliberation and pragmatic analysis of the causes and solutions of youth unemployment in Nigeria.
“Adebayo also stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to declare the conference open.”
