Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the South-South apex socio-political organisation has urged the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike to intervene in the land crisis involving the land allocated to Late Col. Paul Ogbebor (Rtd) in the FCT.
In a press statement on Friday signed by its National Spokesman, Chief Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF expressed concern over the news of the revocation of the land allocated to Late Col. Paul Ogbebor Rtd, who it described as one of Nigeria finest and foremost nationalist.
The statement reads, “We’re therefore calling on the FCT Minister, His Excellency Nyesom Wike as a matter of public importance to exhibit a high level of spirit of statesmanship which we strongly believe he has in abundance.
“It won’t be a good record that when a man dies, his labour for Nigeria is swept under the carpet and punished for no just cause.
“We’re proud of the unbeatable and enviable records of late Col. Ogbebor Rtd. The FCT Minister is therefore humbly urged to do the needful, stop the re-allocation of the built up estate land of the hero past, Late Col. Paul Ogbebor.”
PANDEF added, “It should be noted that late Col. Ogbebor Rtd. was the first Nigerian to be enrolled in the cadets of course 1 of the Nigerian Defence Academy. He fought for Nigeria on so many battle grounds both at home and outside Nigeria and won so many medals.
“In fact, Col. Paul Ogbebor was a national hero. His record of statesmanship is still very imperative.
“Late Ogbebor was one of the founding fathers of PANDEF, the apex social-political Umbrella of the Niger Delta. A body which came into existence at a time the nation was witnessing dwindling oil production due to the anger of the youths in the South-South region as a result of criminal neglect of the region.
“Today the record of production has moved upwards. In fact, PANDEF which Late Col Ogbebor contributed to build with Chief Sen. Edwin Clark OFR, CON can be commended for this.” PANDEF added.
