The Enugu State House of Assembly has passed a bill for a law to make provision for the sum of nine hundred and seventy-one billion, eighty-four million naira only (N971,084,000,000.00) to the services of the Government of Enugu State of Nigeria for the year ending 31st of December, 2025 and for other related purposes (HB.20), 2024.
The bill passed a third reading after Anthony Nwankwo, Chairman of the Committee of Finance and Appropriation, presented the report on it and immediately considered it.
Resolving to the Committee of Supply to consider the bill, the Chairman revealed that no amendment was made; the bill was approved and read the 3rd time.
In his speech, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Callistus Ugwu commended his colleagues for their good work and enjoined them to prioritize their oversight functions to ensure that the Executives keep their word.
“Today is a very remarkable day because we have just passed the ball to the Executive. We have given the Executive the authority to spend the resources of the state. Hence we must make sure that our people get value for their money;”
“I therefore enjoin all the Committee Chairmen to make sure that we take our oversight functions very seriously,” Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu said.
The budget of Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity was presented by the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage on Tuesday 26th of November, 2024.
