Senator John Azuta Mbata has emerged as the President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide at the national elections held at the Old Government Lodge, Abakiliki Road, Enugu in Enugu State.
The election held on Friday was peaceful, successful and ushers in the new executive leadership team of the apex socio-cultural organization for the Igbo people of Nigeria.
A press release signed by Chief Agbeze Ireke Kalu Onuma on behalf of the Election Committee Media Team lists the following as members of the executive; Okey Nwadinobi as Deputy President General; Engr Emeka Sibeudu Secretary General; Dan Okenyi Deputy Secretary General.
The five Vice President General elected are Omeife Omeife Jideofor, Chief John Duru, Dr. Ngozi Oleiime, Dr. Peter Mbam and Prof. Fred Eze.
Others include Dr. Peter Chidera Aneke National Treasurer; Nnanna Nwakwo Assistant National Treasurer; Charles Kalu Nkata National Financial Secretary; Jane Nwanga Assistant National Financial Secretary; Dr. Ezechukwu Eze National Public Secretary; Bismarck Orji Assistant National Publicity Secretary; Barr Okeagu Ogada National Legal Adviser; and Barr Chizoba Iheka Assistant National Legal Adviser.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he garnered at the election to emerge as the President General, Senator John Azuta Mbata promised to strengthen Igbo unity, promote Igbo culture and advocate for the rights and interests of the Igbo people wherever they may reside.
The event was well attended by prominent persons including four state governors; Alex Otti of Abia State; Chukwuma C. Soludo of Anambra state; Hope Uzodimma of Imo state and Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu state; Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state was represented by his Deputy Patricia Onyemaechi Obila.
Senator John Azuta-Mbata is the 13th President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. Azuta Mbata is a lawyer and former lawmaker who represented Rivers East Senatorial District.
