Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has cancelled the work-from-home initiative implemented by his administration, directing all civil servants in Lagos State to resume full physical attendance at their duty posts from 1 April 2025
The decision, which marks the end of the remote work policy introduced in February 2024, was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
“Further to the implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the state public service and other commendable measures put in place by this administration to improve the welfare and well-being of public servants in Lagos State, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the cancellation of the work-from-home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service,” Agoro stated.
He emphasised that the directive would take effect from 31 March 2025, urging all public servants to fully rededicate themselves to their responsibilities and enhance service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.
“In view of the above, public servants are implored to fully rededicate themselves to the effective discharge of their duties and ensure improved service delivery in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs),” he added.
Agoro further instructed all accounting officers to take note of the directive and “give it the service-wide publicity it deserves.”
The work-from-home policy was initially introduced to provide flexibility for public servants, but with its cancellation, all government workers are now required to return to their offices for in-person work.
