The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has re-elected Chief Ali Odefa as the South East Zonal Chairman of the party.
Chief Odefa was elected alongside twenty other officials to pilot the affairs of the party in the zone.
Others elected are James Ugwu as the Zonal Secretary; Mrs. Regina Uchebo as Zonal Treasurer; Cornelius Okey Ugwu as Zonal Organizing Secretary; Madubuike Okoro (Financial Secretary), Engr. Chigozie Igwe (Publicity Secretary); Barrister Dominic Nwankwo (Legal Adviser) and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Arodiogbo (Women Leader).
Godswill Nwanoruo and Ezeanya Augustine were elected to the positions Zonal Youth Leader and Auditor respectively.
Six National Ex-officio members and five Zonal Ex-Officio members were also elected.
In his speech at the congress, the Governor of Enugu State and Leader of PDP South East zone, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, advised party members to always remember that election is never an end in itself and victory arising from it should never be construed as personal triumphs.
Tasking party members to uphold good governance which he said is the ideals of the party, Dr. Peter Mbah advocates the welfare of the people should be paramount in all their endeavors.
“Democracy is beyond the squabble for office and power; it is about the people and we cannot over-emphasize that.”
“The bottom line is good governance; this is the ideal to which the PDP has committed to from its inception.
“That is why, for us here in Enugu State, the people remain the centerpiece of government policies. The improvement of their welfare is not a task we regard with levity,” Mbah reiterates.
Meanwhile, the re-elected Zonal Chairman, Chief Odefa calls for the unity of party members as fulcrum to stand out against the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC.
Attendees include: the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai; the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu; National Secretary, S.K.E Ude-Okoye; Senators Sam Egwu; Osita Ngwu and Augustine Akobundu, the party’s National Auditor, Chief Dan Obi; members of the National and State House of Assembly; Council chairmen; State party executives, delegates from the zone amongst others.
