Crime & SecurityNewsNigeriaTinubu Condemns Plateau Killings, Orders Manhunt for Attackers

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the spate of killings in Plateau State, describing the attacks as unacceptable and vowing that those responsible will be brought to justice.

Reacting to the brutal killings in Ruwi, Hurti, Tadai, Manguna and Dafo communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, the President said: “The report of another violent attack in communities in Plateau State by mindless gunmen saddens me. The latest attacks on defenceless citizens are unacceptable. I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment when apprehended.”

He assured Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the Federal Government’s support in ending the violence, directing the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to deliver immediate relief and assist in rebuilding affected communities.

His comments come as local sources report that over 50 people were killed in ten days across villages in Bokkos. On 2nd April alone, more than 30 persons were massacred during coordinated attacks on Mongor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai, all predominantly Christian communities. The killings came just days after a similar incident in Ruwi left more than 10 dead.

Farmasum Fuddang, a leader of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council, said the attackers were initially repelled in Mongor but regrouped and struck again. He noted that the military and police helped reduce casualties, but residents have since fled their homes out of fear.

Despite the rising death toll, no group has claimed responsibility and security agencies have remained silent.
