One person has been confirmed dead and two others were rescued from the water after a helicopter crash into New York’s Hudson River on Thursday.
The crash occurred near the shore, next to Pier 40, just across the river from New Jersey.
The New York Police Department said the conditions of the rescued victims remain unknown.
According to CBS News, five people were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash, including three children and two adults.
Meanwhile, Authorities in New York City have launched an investigation into the crash.
Officials with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that a helicopter was in the water as of 3:40 p.m. local time.
Several emergency services have rushed to the scene, with both boats and ground units working together in a coordinated effort to facilitate the rescue.
“Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas,” the NYPD statement said.
