The nomination process monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC, followed option A 4 direct voting system, as provided by the party’s constitution. Considering that Sir Paul Chukwuma was the party’s sole aspirant, the party relied on its constitution’s provisions, allowing both supporters of Sir Paul Chukwuma and those who do not support his nomination to file out accordingly. Ultimately, Mr. Chukwuma was overwhelmingly nominated as the party’s candidate.

In his commencement speech, Sir Paul Chukwuma started by observing a one-minute silence for the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Chukwuma, who asked for the vote of delegates, pleaded with them to base their decision on his proven leadership skills. “I am standing before you to rely on the empirically verifiable capacity that I embody and vote for me today. I come for your vote today as a passport to the development we all yearn for in Anambra State. I stand before you today to offer myself in service to the people of Anambra State,” Paul Chukwuma appealed, assuring that the “YPP will build bridges to connect Anambra to the centre.”

In his comments after the congress, the National Chairman of the YPP commended the party faithful. According to him, “Today’s occasion signified divine grace,” Comrade Amakiri said. The party’s flag was thereafter handed over to Sir Paul Chukwuma, after he was declared the duly nominated candidate of the YPP for the Anambra State Governorship Election in November. Chukwuma accepted his nomination and assured that YPP is set to rewrite the Anambra State political landscape.
