The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has assured Nigerians that the enemies of the country will soon begin to feel the full impact of new strategies recently adopted by the Nigerian Army.
He gave this assurance on Tuesday in Bauchi, during a firepower demonstration held at the Victor Kure Armour Range. The event marked the grand finale of the 2025 Combat Arms Training Week.
Speaking through Major General Henry Wesley, Commander of the Ordnance Corps, General Oluyede said the Army has introduced modern techniques and procedures into its operations, and that Nigerians would soon begin to see the difference on the battlefield.
“This particular event is very important because we have discussed strategies, operations and tactics, and at the end, it is at the tip of the spear that all these will be reflected,” he said.
He added that the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, had already acquired a significant amount of military hardware to strengthen the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other security threats.
“The enemies are not here, but they will feel it at the end of the day. By the time they see us—and as I speak to you—the government has already bought a lot of equipment and weapons. Some are already in the field, some are still coming,” he added.
The Army Chief noted that the firepower display was not just for show but a critical opportunity to test the capacity of new strategies and to familiarise troops with updated tactics.
“What you are expected to see very soon is the change in the tide of activities based on the new modus operandi and how we conduct our operations at all levels,” he explained.
On his part, the Commander of the Armoured Corps, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, described the week-long event as a platform for addressing key operational challenges and fine-tuning strategies within the combat arms.
He also praised all participating officers, serving and retired, for their commitment, especially the senior veterans who made time to attend the demonstration.
