Residents of Tashar Kaɗanya, a community in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State are now in dilemma following imposition of ₦60 million levies on them by bandits who threatened to launch an attack if the money is not paid.
A security analyst, @DanKatsina50, on his X handle on Monday said that the bandits gave the community a deadline to pay the money, prompting residents to begin fleeing for their lives.
Kankara LGA has suffered bandit attacks, including kidnappings for ransom.
This latest demand by the bandits may further worsen the security and humanitarian situation in the area.
Security authorities and the government are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
However, the development has reignited concerns over the persistent attacks by bandits in parts of Katsina State, despite efforts by the government to curb the violence.
