The Anambra State House of Assembly during plenary on Thursday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visit to Anambra State last Thursday to commission the New Governor’s Lodge and Government House.
In a motion moved by Hon. Ebuka Igwe, the House of Assembly member representing Idemili South constituency, he said that President Tinubu’s visit symbolizes an enduring partnership that will promote good governance in Anambra State. In his preceding debate on the motion, Hon. Igwe further thanked Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his bold initiatives in infrastructure. The motion, which was seconded by Hon. Jude Akpua, the member representing Njikoka II constituency, was supported by Hon. Emma Nwafor, Hon. Augustine Ike, Hon. Golden Ilo, and Hon. Obi Nweke.
In his incisive submission, Hon. Chuks Azotani, the House of Assembly member representing Dunukofia constituency, thanked the President for signing the Southeast Development Commission – SEDC, into law. Noting the significance of the president’s action, Hon. Azotani said that the idea for SEDC had been there for many years but was actualized by President Tinubu, and therefore worthy of commendation. He further commended the president for appointing Anambra State-born Mark Okoye II, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the SEDC.
The House admitted petitions, including a petition against the Chairman of Onitsha South LGA, Hon. Emeka Orji, concerning land grabbing. The petitioner accused the Chairman of illegally going into a parcel of land whose owner had been issued with a certificate of occupancy.
