Adamawa State House of Assembly is to repeal the Local Government Administration, System and Establishment Law 2000 to pave way for tenure elongation of Local Government Council Chairmen from 2 to 3 years.
The tenure elongation of Council Chairmen was sequel to a letter forwarded to the House by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, seeking the Assembly to repeal a law that will allow for the extension of the tenure.
The letter was read for the 1st and 2nd time on the floor of the House during the resumed plenary session on Friday by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley.
Already, the assembly has since committed the proposed bill to the Assembly Committee on LG and Chieftaincy Affairs for scrutiny.
