Women from the Agan community in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Friday took to the streets to protest the rising insecurity in their area.
The protest comes as residents continue to face attacks and violence in parts of the community and state.
The angry women carrying leaves and chanting songs to express their frustration blocked the federal highway near the Agan toll gate.
One of the residents in the area, Torkwase, said that the protest is still ongoing, but peaceful.
“The protest is currently ongoing at Agan ward, close to the toll gate.
“It is just about the insecurity going on around the area. We are tired and need the government to act fast,” Torkwase said.
She said security operatives are already at the scene, and the protest remains peaceful for now.
