Ahead of the burial of ex-president Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, security has been beefed up at the residence of the late president ahead of his burial rites on Tuesday.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, said the arrival of leaders from three countries is expected, in addition to President Bola Tinubu, who has already arrived in Katsina to receive the body from London.
As early as 8:00 am, security operatives barricaded all entry points to the residence, restricting access to authorized persons only.
A combined team of security personnel, including operatives from the Nigerian Army, Police, and Department of State Services (DSS), as well as other security outfits, has been deployed to the area.
Meanwhile, a group of women has gathered at the residence to offer prayers and recite the Qur’an in honour of the late Buhari.
The women, believed to be close family members and long-time associates of the former President, assembled in an inner section of the Daura home where they held a special prayer session for the repose of Buhari’s soul and offered du’as (supplications) for divine mercy and eternal rest for the late President.
The final burial rites were scheduled to take place by Islamic tradition upon the arrival of his remains from the United Kingdom.
Buhari’s body is expected to arrive at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina before being transported to his hometown in Daura.
