NewsNigeriaPoliticsChukwuma, Okagbue, Storm Onitsha for Princess Njideka Ndiwe, ahead of Saturday’s By-Election

The Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, Sir Paul Chukwuma, and the Deputy Governorship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, stormed Onitsha North LGA on Saturday, August 9, in style, for Princess Njideka Ndiwe, the YPP candidate for the Onitsha North State Constituency 1, ahead of the by-election on August 16.

The Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC, has scheduled August 16th, 2025, for all outstanding by-elections, nationwide. In Anambra State, the Anambra South senatorial zone and Onitsha North State Constituency 1 are the two vacant constituencies where the by-election shall be held. The Onitsha North 1 State Constituency by-election is necessitated by the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka after he was kidnapped last December.

Speaking at the rally, which was held at Washington Memorial Grammar School, Awka Road, Onitsha, several community leaders, as well as party leaders, testified that the YPP candidate Princess Njideka Ndiwe, a lawyer, has an impeccable record of public service to the people of Onitsha North and beyond. They also vowed to work assiduously and ensure that she is returned elected next Saturday, to replace the late Hon. Justice Azuka.

Recalling some of her records of public service, Barr. Njideka Ndiwe noted that she has shown total commitment in the service of the people without any encumbrance. She equally mentioned that she has often deployed her legal knowledge and expertise towards the protection of rights when violated. She also outlined her empowerment schemes that spanned many years, purely out of her desire to serve and nothing more. Some of the beneficiaries of her empowerment schemes and free legal services attested to those.

The State Chairman of the YPP, Prince Moses Obi, asked the people of Onitsha North to vote for their sister, who has been with them and truly cares about them. Similarly, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the YPP, Uzu Okagbue, charged voters to come out in large numbers and make a firm statement through their vote for Princess Ndiwe, the YPP candidate.

In his speech, Sir Paul Chukwuma, the YPP Governorship candidate, first called for a minute silence for the continued peaceful repose of the soul of the late Hon. Justice Azuka. He then expressed sadness about the attitude of the present Anambra State Government over the loss of lives. According to Sir Paul Chukwuma, the by-election would have been unnecessary if not for the unfortunate situation Anambra has found itself in. Chukwuma then wondered if the insecurity could affect a serving House member, how much worse it would be for ordinary Anambra residents. He therefore called on Ndi Onitsha North Constituency 1 to vote for Princess on Saturday and also called on Ndi Anambra to stand up and reject the reelection bid of the current APGA-led Anambra State Government, by voting for YPP for a people-centric governance anchored on his three critical agendas of human capital, infrastructure –hard and soft, and security.
