President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mr Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, and the Executive Director of News, Mr Ayo Adewuyi, reversing recent management changes in the organisation.
On 20 August 2025, the President made a series of appointments in NTA, including the appointment of Rotimi Pedro as the director-general of NTA, with Stella Din as executive director of news.
President Tinubu also appointed Karimah Bello as the executive director of marketing, and Sophia Mohammed was named as managing director of NTA Enterprises Limited.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed that Dembos and Adewuyi should return to complete their respective three-year tenures.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the recall of Mr Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who briefly vacated the post following some management changes in the agency,” the statement read.
Dembos, who was appointed in October 2023, is now expected to continue in office until the end of his tenure.
The President also confirmed the reinstatement of Adewuyi, who was appointed in 2024, to complete his term as Executive Director of News. His tenure is scheduled to end in 2027.
“The President similarly directed the recall of Mr Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, to complete his three-year tenure, which ends in 2027,” Onanuga added.
With the new directive, the previously announced appointments of a director-general, an executive director of news, an executive director of marketing, and the managing director of NTA Enterprises have been set aside.
