…Femi Otedola Offers His Memoir as Wedding Gift
Nigerian actress Temi Otedola and musician Olutosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, have tied the knot after a series of ceremonies held in Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland, drawing attention across social media and the entertainment industry.
The couple began their journey with a civil wedding in Monaco on 9 May, followed by a traditional Yoruba ceremony at the Otedola family residence in Dubai in July, and concluded with a white wedding in Iceland in August.
The events blended Nigerian tradition with international style and were attended by family members, friends, and high-profile guests.
The couple, sharing official photographs from the ceremonies on Instagram, captioned their posts: “Mr and Mrs Ajibade.”
The actress has also updated her social media handles from Temi Otedola to Temi Ajibade to reflect her new marital status.
Temi reflected on the journey, saying: “All throughout we honoured our rich culture but made sure everything felt like us.”
Mr Eazi added that the wedding experience had inspired him musically. “I wanna make more love songs, stripped back acoustic songs that I could perform live at future Nigerian weddings,” he said.
The Iceland ceremony included a church service at Hallgrímskirkja and a private reception, with reports of a surprise performance by American singer John Legend. Guests were also treated to Icelandic experiences, including geothermal bathing and an Arctic-themed after-party.
The couple’s wardrobe choices included couture and bespoke pieces from internationally recognised designers, while receptions mixed with Nigerian food, music and ritual with international production and staging.
At the reception, billionaire businessman and father of the bride, Femi Otedola, offered words of advice to the newlyweds and presented them with a copy of his memoir, Making It Big: Lessons from a Life in Business.
He told his daughter: “You found a great guy, a very great guy, a blessed guy. He comes from a very decent family. One thing I’ll advise you… you have to succumb to the whims and caprices of your husband. Okay? He’s your husband, he’s your boss. There’s no more dad, don’t call me up.”
He further urged them to protect their privacy: “When you have issues, problems, just keep it within yourself. Never call any friend that has this problem. Just keep it within your walls. And God will bless you and bless your marriage.”
Explaining his choice of gift, Mr Otedola said: “I thought of what I should give this couple as a present. I thought, I’ve splintered my savings account. I brought my gift. This gift I present to you. You go out to the world. You’re both entrepreneurs. Out-think, out-manoeuvre, and out-spend. You’ll be great people. This is my gift for you.”
The three-part wedding, described by Vogue and other outlets as both personal and was both personal and symbolic: the Monaco civil ceremony coincided with the birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother; the Dubai event honoured Yoruba traditions and family ties; and the Iceland ceremony offered a quiet, scenic close to the celebrations.
Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi, who announced their engagement in April 2022, have long shared glimpses of their relationship with the public.
Their multi-country ceremonies have now cemented their union in a fashion described by commentators as “a celebration of love, culture, and global style.”
