Reputed Chartered Accountant and Igbo cultural renaissance enthusiast, Chief Ben Etiaba, will chair this year’s Ikenga Day, scheduled for September 27th, in Paris, France. The event, expected to draw guests from across the globe, will also have in attendance Dwij-David Gittens, the inventor and designer of Ikenga Automobiles and Ikenga Aircraft, as the special guest. Though from Barbados, Mr. Gittens’ father had traced the family ancestry to the Igbo group in Nigeria.
This year’s Ikenga Day will be hosted by Paris-based AfrikaFora, where Chief Ben Etiaba is expected to speak on “Selfless Leadership na Ala Igbo: a Panacea for Igbo Resistance.”
Conversations around the Igbo land and the political and economic future of the Igbo have continued to resonate over the years. At the moment, it would appear that there is no better time to further deepen the conversation as Igbo land continues to grapple with security challenges, separatist agitation, and development issues. Yet, questions around quality leadership have remained at the centre of these challenges, further demonstrating the weight of the need to intensify conversations on leadership in Igbo land.
According to Etiaba, the event is a call to “umu Igbo to come on board this unique and deeply revealing journey with Dwij-David Gittens. There is a new rising of the people of the East,” Chief Ben Etiaba said.
