EducationNewsNigeriaCourt Orders JAMB, UNILAG, OAU To Suspend 2025-2026 Admissions

The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has ordered the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, to suspend all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session following an ex-parte motion filed by a group of candidates.

An education technology expert and the Chief Executive Officer of Educare, Alex Onyia, posted the court order on his X handle on Tuesday indicate that the order was issued by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello.

The applicants had sought interim injunctions restraining the institutions and JAMB from releasing, approving, uploading, or finalizing any admission list for the new session.

The group of candidates, Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak, filed the case on behalf of other affected applicants of the 2025 post-UTME examinations of both universities.

While ruling on the application, Justice Segun-Bello held that there was a “veritable and triable issue” requiring both sides to be heard and directed the applicants to put the respondents on notice.

The judge further ordered all parties to maintain the status quo, preserving the current state of affairs regarding the 2025/2026 admission list, pending the hearing of the substantive motion.
