To guarantee a peaceful and credible governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025, the Anambra State Police Command has hosted a Situation Room meeting with heads and representatives of all security agencies operating in the state.
The meeting, which held on Wednesday at the Police Command Headquarters in Awka, was convened in line with the directives of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
It provided a robust platform for strategic review, operational coordination, and intelligence-sharing among participating agencies.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Ikioye Orutugu, emphasised the importance of synergy and professionalism among all tiers of the security agencies, noting that effective inter-agency collaboration remains key to safeguarding the democratic process.
“Election security is a shared responsibility. Every agency must operate with neutrality, discipline, and commitment to national interest,” the DCP stated.
The newly established Situation Room at the Command Headquarters will serve as the central hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and rapid response to any security developments before, during, and after the election.
Among the security officials represented were those of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Fire Service, and the Correctional Service all pledged full cooperation under the ICCES framework.
