The Constitutional Council of Cameroon has declared incumbent Paul Biya, the world’s oldest president as a winner of Cameroon’s October 12, 2025 presidential elections with 53.66% and the runner-up Issa Tchrioma Bakary with 35.19%.

Meanwhile, Cameroonians in Douala have already taken to the streets to express their discontent following the proclamation of the presidential election results by the Constitutional Council.
Outside Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s Residence in Garoua. Tensions have reached a breaking point in northern Cameroon as Presidential Candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary (FSNC) reported that security forces have opened fire on civilians gathered outside his home.
In a message sent moments ago, Mr. Tchiroma wrote: “Urgent: I am currently at my home in Garoua. They are shooting at civilians who are camping outside my house. The assault has begun.”
Eyewitnesses in Garoua describe scenes of panic as residents flee the area amid the sound of gunfire.
Authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the situation. The developments mark a sharp escalation in post-election unrest, as calls for calm intensify across the country.
